Mary Agnes Burns (b. 1/12/1871 d. 12/26/52) married Edward Doyle in
1893. Ed's father was James Doyle (our great-great grandfather). James
Doyle was born in the parish of Tramore, County Waterford in 1833. (according
to Judy Waters "Roots") He came to Quebec in 1848, one year later moved
to Rutland, Vermont. There he married Mary in 1848. In 1858 they went to
Chicago by covered wagon. This story had James I's wife as Mary Goilsdon.
Another account (probably the right one), from The Doyle Family History
that the Waucoma Branch worked on, has Great Great Grandma Doyle's name
as Mary Flannery. She came to the US with her mother Margaret and brother
Patrick after her father, a professor, died in Ireland. She married James
in Vermont, had two children, lived briefly in Warren, IL, (Jo Davies County)
had another child, then they came west to Waucoma in a covered wagon. Her
brother went off to serve in the Civil War and was never heard from again,
according to this account.
James died in 1905 and Mary in 1917. They are buried in Waucoma.
James Doyle had three sisters: Katie Doyle Maher, Louise Doyle Derby,
Maria Doyle Murphy. He had one brother, Thomas Doyle.
Katie Maher's children were: Tim Maher, Lou Carroll, Mary Winks, and Walter
Maher.
Walter Doyle & wife Katie lived in Waucoma; had three sons. Sons
lived/ are buried? In Mason City.
Tom Doyle's children were Tommy Doyle, Mame(?) Kieran, Johanna Shoemaker,
Jimmy Doyle and Walter Doyle. Johanna Shoemaker lived in Alaska.
Mame Kieran (Kieron?) lived in Waucoma her whole life in a corner house
across the street from Dewey Chisek. Her husband died early in life, and
she had a son James who taught in Clermont. He committed suicide.
Mame was Waucoma City Clerk for many, many years.

They had 12 children; three died in infancy. Nine of their children were:
This is a photo of our Great Grandfather Ed Doyle who married Great
Grandma Agnes Burns. He is pictured with his father, James Doyle (1) who
came from Tramore, County Wexford, Ireland in 1848 at age 15. The mother,
Mary Flannery Doyle, came from Nenagh, County Tipperary. They married in
Vermont in 1854. After Vermont, they moved to Chicago, then Warren Township
(Ill.) and finally settled in Waucoma, Ia. in 1864. James worked for the
railroad there, but purchased 160 acres of land. Ed is seated second from
right.

Missing: Frank & Mary
(The daughter of James II, Mary Elizabeth, had a daughter, Frances Trewin,
who still lives in Waucoma. She is the source of the following picture
and information.) Frances Trewin was in Ireland three years ago, and they
talked to some Doyles in Tramore that were the descendents of the Doyles
who stayed back. They lived in the same Doyle homestead. They have photocopies
of records that showed they were tenants of Cullen Castle since the 1600's.
